COR Health & Safety Management Systems
What is COR™?
Canadian H&S standard audited by IHSA in Ontario
The Certificate of Recognition (COR™) program is a health and safety management system (HSMS) audit that verifies a health and safety program has been fully implemented and meets the program standard.
More and more public and private owners require contractors to be certified in order to bid projects. Continue to keep your bid opportunities open. Use your certification as a marketing tool when you showcase your company to owners who do not require COR™.
A structured and strong management system will also have your organization run more efficiently, incur fewer defects and reworks and create safer workplaces with fewer injuries and downtime. Finally, there are recognition and financial rewards from MOL and WSIB.
Why get certified?
Bidding requirements. Business improvements. Financial rewards.
Benefits of COR™
Better productivity. Better profitability.
Having a structured and strong management system that allows your organization to run more efficiently, incur fewer defects and reworks and have safer workplaces with fewer injuries and downtime means better productivity and a better bottom line.
Understand the standard’s requirements. Know your starting position. Build a strategic plan to eliminate the gaps between where you are now and where you need to be. Build your strategic plan around how your business already operates. We can provide you with a gap analysis and a detailed report outlining the non-conformities found.
We can help you develop the strategic plan, create a new culture and change organizational habits.
COR™ Audits
Are you ready?
COR™ 2020
Do you know how it’s evolved?
COR™ 2020 has arrived! Any internal audits submitted after December 1, 2021 are to be on the COR™ 2020 audit tool.
How has the audit changed? There are fewer elements, however, nothing has been removed from the program. It’s been routed around into other elements, and there are many new essential items.
Are you prepared and have updated your health & safety management system to incorporate these new requirements? Will you be ready for your next external audit?
COR™ is transitioning from the 2015 audit tool to the COR™ 2020 audit tool. This will be phased in based on the schedule of your next external audit. IHSA has set the following guidelines in place for organizations to transition from COR™ to COR™ 2020
- December 1, 2021 – All Initial Internal Audit submissions after this date must use the COR™ 2020 audit tool
- October 1, 2022 – All external audits after this date will be completed following the COR™ 2020 audit tool
Organizations that are certified to COR™ 2015 can transition at anytime by completing the COR™ 2020 Transition Tool and submitting it to the IHSA for review.
Not only have you met the new requirements, but is your management system as efficient as it could be? Now would be a great time to incorporate updates to answer both those questions with an unquestionable “yes”.
